Li Zhiwen, Wang Yuanyuan, Wang Gendai, Chen Yanfang, Li Changwen and Ma Xiaohui from the research institute of Tianshili Holding Group compared the hypoglycemic effect of Pu'er tea extract and green tea extract through the whole animal model study. C57BL/6J mice were used as the control group, and KKay mice were randomly divided into groups. Pu'er tea extract and green tea extract were given by gavage respectively for 4 weeks. Fasting blood glucose and area under the blood glucose curve were used as the observation indicators to compare their pharmacodynamic effects; The diabetic rats were made by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) in SD male rats. The diabetic rats were randomly divided according to the initial fasting blood glucose value. Pu'er tea extract and green tea extract were given by gavage continuously for 4 weeks. The fasting blood glucose, area under the blood glucose curve and fasting serum insulin were used as observation indicators.

The results showed that both Pu'er tea extract and green tea extract could reduce the fasting blood glucose of KKAY mice and STZ diabetic model rats, and both could reduce the area under the blood glucose curve, but the difference was that Pu'er tea extract was better than green tea extract in reducing the fasting blood glucose and the area under the blood glucose curve, and Pu'er tea extract could significantly reduce the fasting serum insulin of rats compared with the model group, However, there was no significant difference between the green tea extract and the model group in reducing fasting serum insulin. The inhibitory effects of two tea extracts on glycoaldehyde reductase and PTP1B, the target enzymes of diabetes in vitro, were compared. It was found that Pu'er tea extract had a strong inhibitory effect on PTP1B activity, with an inhibitory rate of 88.0%, while green tea extract had no inhibitory effect on this enzyme.
The comprehensive experimental results showed that the hypoglycemic effect of Pu'er tea extract was better than that of green tea extract.
